This 7 Day line fishing trip is ideal for all levels of fisherman and is a perfect trip to enjoy with all your mates. “Reality Fishing Charters” will take you to the beautiful reefs and coral cays of the Swains. This remote reef system is full of life with Coral Trout, Sweet lip, Spanish mackerel and Red Emperor just waiting for you.
This amazing experience is all made possible due to our 25m mother ship “Big Cat Reality” and her professional and dedicated crew. Big Cat is well set up for this remote expedition with spacious dining and living areas, large fishing decks, 7 x 4.3m fishing tenders and a designated rescue vessel. You have full access to the latest Garmin electronics on the back deck and in your tender to assist you with your planning and to maximise your experience.
Departure Day: All guests are to arrive at Bundaberg Port Marina between 11am and 11.30am and board the vessel at 12 noon. The crew will show you where to stow your gear and give you a tour of the vessel before you meet the other guests on the back deck for some afternoon refreshments. Once all guests have arrived the Master will conduct a safety brief. We will depart Bundaberg Port Marina at 1 pm and steam north overnight to Swains Reef. Dinner will be served at 7.00 pm
Day 1: We arrive at Swains Reef mid morning where we anchor up and you enjoy a hot breakfast. After you are comfortable with the tender and you have all your gear together you will have the opportunity to explore the reef yourself for the first morning session. All tenders return back to Big Cat by 11:30am where the diligent crew clean and fillet your catch, cryovac seal it before freezing in the freshness while you sit down to a hearty lunch.
After lunch you will again have the opportunity to fish the reef from the tenders until around 4:30pm. After all the tenders are back on-board the crew again look after your catch while you have the chance to freshen up before dinner. The evening meal is served by 6pm followed by dessert every night.
Day 2: After a hot cooked breakfast you then head out on the tenders by 7:30am at one of the many amazing reefs this area has to offer.
Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 will be spent working the Swain Reefs, fishing some of the most remote fishing destinations this area has to offer.
Day 5: After dinner, the vessel steams south, to the Bunker Group ready for another full day of fishing.
Day 6: Today is spent at Sykes Reef (or nearby reefs) where you have the opportunity to fish the reef edges or troll the deeper water. After lunch the day is yours to make the most of the final session. Around 4:30pm tenders are recovered back onboard while the guests enjoy sunset drinks and snacks on the back deck chatting to their new mates. Big Cat will then head south steaming overnight, back to Bundaberg.
Day 7: We will arrive at Bundaberg Port Marina around 6am where a hot breakfast will be served. The diligent crew will assist you with your gear and catch before we farewell all guests around 7.30am. If you don’t have an esky, ice and foam boxes are available for purchase to transport your fish home.

(Kenn Reef Trips) between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm on the departure day. Guests board the vessel at 1:00 pm. You will arrive back to the marina by around 5am on the 9th day and depart the vessel after breakfast by around 8am.
(Wreck and Cato Reef Trip) between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm on the departure day. Guests board the vessel at 4pm. You will arrive back to the marina by around 5am on the 7th day and depart the vessel after breakfast by around 8am.

She is all steel (164 tonne) and is well set up for extended fishing adventures with 7 fishing tenders and a rescue boat onboard. Our seven fishing tenders are “4.3m Smart Waves” which are specifically set up to help you get the most out of your fishing experience. Each 4.3m tender is set up with the following:

“Big Cat Reality” is set up with large, comfortable bunk style accommodation which is fully air-conditioned and spacious to minimize sea sickness. Everyone gets a separate bunk with privacy curtains, power points and luggage storage area. They are located in the middle of the ship and down low which is the best place to be – No pokey bow berths! All bed linen and a bath towel are provided for the on-board fresh water showers. We’re sure you will have a pleasurable and comfortable stay on-board.
“Big Cat Reality” offers professionally presented meals prepared on-board by our qualified chefs for you to enjoy throughout your trip. Meals include: hot breakfasts, hot & cold lunches and of course the famous Big Cat Seafood Night. You will also enjoy healthy fruit platters and other exhilarating taste bud sensations for afternoon teas. If you have any dietary requirements, please advise us at the time of booking. This will allow our chefs to cater for your needs.
“Big Cat Reality” is a fully licenced vessel. We have a electronic POS system that caters for individual consumption and can provide a print out of the drinks consumed at the end of your trip. (“Only pay for what you drink”)

Guests are required to bring along all their own fishing gear including tackle. We do offer a small range of tackle onboard however we always encourage you to speak with your local tackle store and grab the best advise and gear.

Reality Fishing Charters operates within the regulations of the Department of Primary Industry Qld. These regulations govern fish sizes, species, bag limits and reef closures that apply to our guests, Please make yourself familiar with these regulations. (Click here to see the Qld Fishing Regulations). We recommend to download the following app. QLD Fishing 2.0 onto your phone/device.
You are not required to hold any fishing licences to fish on our trips.
Our crew will clean and fillet your catch then it will be cryovac sealed before being frozen to ensure freshness.
In the spirit of fairness and good team-ship: At the end of the trip the whole catch is evenly divided between all active fishers. Everyone should get a nice pack of fish to take home.
Car parking at Bundaberg Port Marina:
There is ample free car parking at the Marina with lockup parking available for an additional $10 per day fee. (please advise when Booking)

However Big Cat is fitted with a Satellite phone system that give us up to date weather information and full phone coverage at all times. The cost of calls can be high, however for emergency use can be used.
