Saturday Morning, Big Cat heads out to our first dive site ready to dive at about 6.30am.  We try to offer the best sites available given the weather conditions; however it is normally a site like Robert's Shoal, Cement-Co, Hutchison's Shoal or one of our other great sites. At 3.30pm, the dive crew rallies the divers to the dive deck to start the afternoon dive which is normally on one of the moorings at the beautiful Flinders Reef. THIS REALLY IS THE BEST WAY TO GO DIVING!

A Divers Perspective by Lumpy

When you arrive at Newport Waterways Marina and board "Big Cat Reality", you will be amazed. Firstly, at the size of the boat. Secondly, how well it is setup. You will be in awe at the amount of work and thought that has been put into setting up the facilities. You can sit 24 divers back to back and side to side (heres a photo) across the back of the boat. She is 10 Metres wide; plenty of room when you are gearing up. Before she steams out, you will be mustered into the Lounge/bar area for the first briefing.

The Master will greet you and introduce you to the crew, safety features, and an orientation of the boat. After he is finished he hands over to to your Dive Master/Instructor for your diving brief. Once the crew slips the lines and gets underway, you are presented with supper, and a smooth cruise across the bay.

Looking around the boat you have comfortable bunks which are air conditioned to a constant 21 degrees, you have a forward lounge with whiteboard for dive briefs. The Bar is fully licensed with beer, spirits, softdrinks, bottled water, tea and coffee. In the rear lounge, which is next to the bar, you have a TV with Video Recorder and plenty of movies to watch and/or games to play between dives.

You have 2 toilets per sex to use, and 5 showers with Hot Water. There is "The Party Deck" for sunning yourself or for partners or non-divers that come onboard. Now the one thing they do have which divers love is plenty of room to get your gear on, and a large capacity compressor to quickly fill tanks (under 4 mins per tank). You have 240 Volt power outlets all round the boat for your convenience.

The other thing divers live is food. Be rest assured there is plenty of food served up to you constantly. There are hot main meals and morning teas, fresh fruit platters, home made cooking to name but a few.

But, the best thing about the boat is dive time, the crew have devised an excellent tagging system to keep track of divers in the water; 2 main entry points and a huge submersible steps for getting out of the water; it can fit 2 divers at a time getting out (click the little pic of it). Also the crew help you into the water and help you out. The service is just amazing!

I could keep raving about the boat and the level of service you receive, but let me say just this. The crew is very friendly, professional, motivated and above all; there to help YOU!
